Christmas Cards from Shutterfly!

I had such a hard time finding a good picture to use for these! I think they turned out ok. There were so many design templates to choose from and it was kind of overwhelming but I think I made the right choice. I love personalized Christmas cards! Things with a little extra thought in them are always good in my book!

Shutterfly is awesome. Their prices are great (which helps when you're a single parent on a limited income). You should check them out!

Anybody Out There?

I guess my blog got lost in the shuffle. I've been dealing with my son's dad coming back from Afghanistan and his parents visiting. So...oops?

I'll have a new review up tomorrow for the CoverGirl Liquiline Blast eyeliners.

Bye for now!

First Post and E.L.F. Reviews!

After reading countless blogs that claim to be about makeup on a budget, I decided to start my own.

I am a single mother on a fixed income. And, let's face it, even drugstore brands can get a little pricey. This is just a way for me to review the most inexpensive makeup I can find, whether it's good or bad!

One of my favorite cosmetic brands is definitely E.L.F. They have so many good produucts (and some duds too...but we'll get to that in a bit). I also love their sales. They have one every week it seems! Anyway, this is some stuff I ordered and received in the mail today. On to the reviews!

1. Brightening Quad  in "Day 2 Night"

I LOVE this little quad! For a long while, I was all about neon blues and purples. But in the last few months, I've been really into neutrals and earthy tones that go with everything. This little baby is right on the money, and for $1 it's a steal.

Keep in mind those swatches were done without any primer or base, and with only ONE swipe of my finger. That wine-burgundy shade is GORGEOUS.

2.Therapeutic Lip Balm

I really wanted to love these. I'm a lip balm freak, and I figured since I was pleased with everything else, that I would like these as well. Sadly, that is far from the truth. These smell SO BAD. It's such a strong chemical smell...I can't even describe it. Once the awful smell wears off, these just leave a thick, waxy film on my lips. Blegh! I'll end up giving these to my niece, because it smells so much like the little kid makeup she buys.

3. Hypershine Gloss

These remind me SO MUCH of Stila Lipglaze! The packaging is similar, and so is the consistency and pigmentation. The only thing I didn't love about these two is that the colors look so much alike to me, but that has nothing to do with the product itself. I love this rosy pink color, so having two doesn't bother me one bit.

4. Eye Primer, Tinted Moisturizer, Concealer, Zit Zapper, Nail Polish

Things I love: The Eye Primer. The primer works just as well as any other primer I've tried and a fraction of the price. I'll be purchasing a backup! The Zit Zapper is AMAZING. I got this in the mail today, and by the time I'm typing this, one of my pimples is almost gone. I'm hoping this isn't a fluke and continues to work.

Things I loathe: The Tinted Moisturizer and Concealer are very, very sheer and don't stay on my face at all! But for $1 a piece, I won't feel bad about not using them.

And the thing I'm most disappointed in...

Nail Polish in Mint Cream. I tried to love this. I used a basecoat and topcoat, no basecoat with topcoat, no topcoat with basecoat, and nothing but the polish...and it was still streaky and sheer after 3-4 coats. Again, for a dollar I can give it to my niece to play with.

Wow, what a long first post huh? I don't know how often I'll post (since I have a toddler to run after..), but i hope you enjoyed this one!
